Custom trucking software for carriers, dispatchers and brokers
We do custom trucking software development for US carriers, dispatchers and freight brokers. In trucking a lot of money is lost in an argument after the fact: a detention claim with no timestamps, an invoice held for a POD nobody can read, a load picked up by someone other than the carrier you booked. We build the step that captures the proof at the moment it exists and ties it to the load.
Example workflow. Not client work.
Where the proof goes missing
The work happens at a shipper’s gate, a receiver’s dock door or a truck stop. The record gets written later, in an office, from a text thread and someone’s memory. By the time a broker disputes a detention bill or a customer’s accounts payable team rejects a delivery receipt, the moment that would have settled it is gone.
None of this is a people problem. A good dispatcher handed a process that depends on a driver remembering to text a photo at 2 a.m. will lose some of those arguments every month.
Three problems we build for
- Detention and TONU that never get paid. The truck waited, or was canceled after it was dispatched, but nobody can show when it arrived, checked in and left, or the terms were never on the rate confirmation. How to prove detention time to a broker.
- Delivered, but not paid. The proof of delivery is missing, unreadable, unsigned or carries an exception note nobody saw, so the invoice sits. POD requirements for invoicing.
- Not knowing who is really hauling your load. A carrier that checked out at onboarding is not proof of who shows up at the dock today. Carrier verification at pickup.
What we build
One idea sits under all three: capture the proof where the work happens, tie it to the load it belongs to, and check it against the terms that apply. A timestamp when the truck reaches the facility. A photo of the signed delivery receipt, checked before the driver pulls away. A look at the truck at pickup, compared with the carrier on the rate confirmation.
Each build is custom, for one company at a time, on a core we reuse and adapt to your lanes, documents and rules. It runs on the phones your drivers and dispatchers already carry. By default it sits beside the TMS (transportation management system) or dispatch software you run, reading from it and writing back where that system offers an API or an export. Where the system today is spreadsheets and group texts, what we build can hold the load list itself.
The same team builds the rest of it: the custom internal tools your office runs on, and AI automation for logistics paperwork where the work is reading a document and checking it against a rule.
If you run trucks as well as a building, Cargohold is Microsive's logistics software for warehouse, transport and fleet operations: you own the app and the data, with no per-truck fees. Related Cargohold guide: how to bill detention.
Where your team decides
Nothing we build sends a claim, releases a load or approves an invoice on its own. It gathers the record, flags what does not match and puts it in front of the dispatcher, broker or billing person who makes the call.
The same habit elsewhere
Warehouses lose the same kind of argument on the other side of the dock: receiving, returns and retailer chargebacks. See warehousing and 3PL.
We also run this habit in our own software: the dialer we built and run for our sales team, on Telnyx for US numbers. Every call is recorded, transcribed and summarized, and the summary is written to the customer record when the call ends, not typed up from memory later.
FAQ
Have you built this for a trucking company?
Not yet. These pages describe what we would build and how, not work we have delivered for a carrier or broker. Scope, a fixed quote and a test on your own documents come before any build.
Do you replace our TMS?
Usually not. We sit beside it and read loads from its API or export where it offers one. We only build the load list ourselves when there is no system to sit beside, or when you want the spreadsheet gone.
Do drivers need a new device or app?
No new device. Drivers use their own phones. Whether that is a page opened from a text message link or an installed app is decided in the scope, based on how your drivers work and what they will actually use.
What does a custom trucking software build cost?
We do not publish a price, because the number would be invented until we know the work. We scope the build with you first, in writing: what is being built, what it depends on, what it will cost in total including any third-party services. A fixed quote comes out of that scope and is agreed before any work starts, and anything added later is quoted before it is built.
How long does a first build take?
We do not publish a number for that either. The delivery time is agreed in the written scope, against what you actually need built. What we do commit to is regular demos of working software, so you see where it stands rather than waiting for a date.
Who owns the code?
You do. The source code and the repository are yours, and the hosting, API keys and third-party accounts are in your own name from the start of the project.
Which argument do you lose most often?
Tell us whether it is detention, PODs or carriers, and what your team does today. Someone from our team replies within one business day.
